about

Originally an acoustic demo from 2008, I developed it into a full arrangement. The arrangement is based on the version my band at the time, JL4 performed. Written in 1986.

lyrics

DICKIE BOY

So Dickie’s setting out on his own
He wants to get very far from home
He hits the streets with a broken heart
But the beauty boys are very smart
‘Cause there’s a man with money out there
He wants to spend on a boy so fair
He’ll spend it all on you
And this is all you have to do Say-------

Let me be your Dickie Boy I’m feeling curious And
You look so alone Come I’ll be your Dickie Boy
And I will walk with you ---- Dickie Boy
And I will talk to you ---- Dickie Boy
and I will walk with you

and it was not long ago you were just like the others
You lived a life of primitive luxury not caring for another
Then you found what you call love and by love your heart was broken
You tried to change and be sincere , but the truth was left unspoken

The cheap cologne and the scratchy fat face
Once made a boy like you so afraid
But there’s money in your hand
And that’s the only thing you understand
You wanna run but there’s something wrong
You wanna stop but you live too long
Good money for the self-employed
‘Til you’re nothing but a Dickie boy ooh---

Let me be your Dickie boy I’m feeling glamorous and
You look so alone Come, I’ll be your Dickie Boy
and it goes to your head Dickie Boy
but it’s time to go to bed Dickie Boy
and they will find you dead Dickie Boy

She said she said she said “I can’t be true to you”
He said He said “I know this to be true
But what am I to do I’m still in love with you?----"

She said she said she said “oh no that isn’t true”
He said oh yeah oh yeah “I must belong to you”
But what is she to do She’s not in love with you----

and it was not long ago you were just like the others
You lived a life in primitive luxury not caring for another
Then you found what you call love and by love your heart was broken
She tried to change and be sincere but the truth was left unspoken

She said she said she says “I can’t be true to you”
He said he said “I know this to be true
But what am I to do I’m still in love with you”

She said she said she says “oh no that isn’t true”
He said oh yeah oh yeah “I must be long to you”
But what is she to do She’s not in love with you……..

Let me be your Dickie boy I’m feeling curious
You look so alone Come, I’ll be your Dickie Boy
